A PICTURE OF DISABILITY IN KENTUCKY

  • 33.2% of adults in Kentucky have a disability

  • 7% participated in a community group in the past month in Kentucky (vs. 32% nationwide)

  • 51% of Kentuckians with disabilities are able to see or talk to family vs 80% nationally

  • 40% of Kentuckians with disabilities can go on a date if they want to

  • 62% of Kentuckians with disabilities have friends who are not staff or family members vs 78% nationally

  • National employment numbers for people with disabilities are far lower than for those without disabilities and Kentucky lags even farther behind.

The face of disability in Kentucky is ten years behind other states. This needs to change. Join our movement!
